[Album Spotlight #6] EMPTYBROTHER7- 7GAWD
For this album spotlight we have an album by EMPTYBROTHER7 titled "7GAWD" this album features southern chopped and screwed vocals, fast trap beats, as well as various samples as well.
"FULL METAL OHANA" is the first track that kicks off the album, southern style chopped vocals are introduced which immediately make the track bounce, the bass is very overpowering so much that you have to listen to it on a good stereo system to get the full effect. The lyrics that caught my attention were "Smoking blunts sipping 40's" which made me feel like I was back in my younger days partying with all my friends and having a good time, the beat has a very trippy sound to it which makes it stand out from some of the beats on this project.
"IN N OUT" is mad chill, I love the melodic piano keys on this one the most. The percussion is on another level, fast machine gun hi-hats are present throughout "IN N OUT" which gives it that old-school trap vibe. This song tells a story in the lyrics "Made a hundred thou in my trap house" and tells you about coming up living in a trap house which is meaningful but also very catchy to listen to. When you think you are at the end of "in n out" the beat slows down and a choir is introduced which was unexpected but it is a great outro for an amazing piece.
"28 TO 35" hits different in the best way ever, layers of autotune vocals fill your ears right off the bat, the sampled rap vocals flow is crazy on this. It takes a lot of talent to have your vocals match the instrumental well but the producer does it with ease, "cook a brick serve a brick" tells a story about dealing in the streets which hit home for me. "28 DO 35" is one of those tracks that will give you eyesight about the struggle of living that sort of life
"LEVITICUS 2629" has a mix of r&b and experimental hip hop, the vocals are heavily distorted and glitched to a point where there understandable which is unique. The beat is laid back with a hint of boom-bap added into the mix, "LEVITICUS 2629" is one of the shorter tracks on the album but it has its special style.
"IMAGINE THAT" has a lofi chill hop type of feel going on, it would be something you would listen to while you sit back after a long day of work and have a few drinks too. The drums are slower than all the other tracks you will hear on the album but they have a hazy sound to them, the bar's the sampled rapper spits are sedating to say the very least but the instrumental compliments them very well.
At the beginning of " POWER MONEY RESPECT" will hear a catchy synth arp that will carry the track from start to the end, when the beat drops the vocals are introduced, "Ima die about my money" is a next-level type of mentality, the vision of "POWER MONEY RESPECT" gives me is traping until I die, really liked how this track put me in the rappers shoes and told a story.
"TRY ME" is one of the darker tracks on the album, horrific piano Rhodes fills the air with slow trap-style drums. You will hear slow-pitched rap vocals throughout "Try Me" which gives it a vaporwave type of feeling. This one is best to listen to when you're alone in a dark room, it will take you on a trip.
"RACKS ON RACKS" is the last track on the album and it's amazing, first off I love the r&b vocals they complement the beat quite well. The way the rap vocals flows over this track is surreal, another thing I enjoyed about "RACKS ON RACKS" is how catchy it is in the short period of the track length it has. 'I like to fish in water I'm a bear" made me laugh a bit because I love the play with words lyrics.
EMPTYBROTHER7 has once again put out an album that everyone will enjoy, it has many different styles of music that will blow your mind away. I feel on this project EMPTYBROTHER7 has finally found his path in the scene, looking forward to where he goes next with his music.
