SINNERS by Van House Hello, gazers! This week’s Single Saturday features Spain’s very own Van House and his most recent track, “40 Thieves.” As soon as you begin listening to “40 Thieves,” you can tell you’re in for a treat. Head-nodding drums immediately fill your ears with an infectious rhythm, accompanied by a pitched-down vocal sample that gives the track an unmistakable character. The combination creates an uplifting, laid-back atmosphere that instantly puts you in a great mood. In fact, as soon as I started listening to this track, I felt inspired to write this blog post. There’s also a very cinematic quality to “40 Thieves.” Van House’s Bandcamp page tags the track as Vaporwave, but I would say it blends Vaporwave with the sound and energy of early-’90s boom bap.
